Mobile Bar Cape Cod: A Real Irish Pub Over the Bridge

Weddings, summer houses and beach-town parties, from Plymouth.

An Irish pub on the Cape

A mobile bar for Cape Cod from The Síbín means a real Irish pub comes over the bridge from Plymouth, is set up at your wedding, summer house or party, and stays for 24 hours. There is a delivery fee for the Cape, quoted up front and depending on how far down the Cape you are, and nothing is added on the day.

Pick The Síbín, a towed Victorian pub with a snug, a stove heater and AC, or The Aer, an inflatable pub for 25 to 30 that goes up on a lawn in minutes and was built for the outdoors. You supply the drink, or add our bartenders from Ireland. Prices for both are on the pricing page, and the quickest way to a summer date is the contact form.

Delivery and fees

Quoted up front, planned around the bridges

01

The delivery fee

Delivery is included inside the Plymouth area, and the Cape is beyond it, so there is a fee. It is quoted with the booking and depends on where you are: the Upper Cape is a shorter run than the Outer Cape, and the quote says so.

02

Beating the traffic

Everybody on the Cape knows what the Sagamore and Bourne bridges are like on a summer Friday. The 24-hour rental is the answer: the pub comes over on a weekday or early in the morning, and leaves once the roads have cleared.

03

The Outer Cape

Chatham, Wellfleet and Provincetown are a long way from Plymouth, and the fee reflects the distance. We will tell you the figure before you decide, not after. For a wedding weekend out there, delivery the day before is the sensible plan.

Rates for both pubs and the bartenders are on the pricing page.

Where we go

Upper Cape to Provincetown

The Upper Cape is the easy run from Plymouth: over the bridge and you are in Falmouth or Sandwich. The Mid Cape, with Hyannis and the rest of Barnstable, is the heart of wedding season and the summer-house crowd. Chatham and the Outer Cape, out to Provincetown, are further, and the delivery quote tells you by how much.

If you are on the mainland side of the canal, you are on our home turf, the South Shore, where delivery around Plymouth is included. If you are heading in the other direction, our Greater Boston page covers the city and its suburbs.

Venue notes

Sand, slope and wind

Level ground, not the beach

Both pubs need level ground. The Síbín wants a level, hard surface — concrete, asphalt, gravel or pavers — of at least 22 feet by 14 feet that the truck can reach; The Aer wants a flat four-metre square and takes a lawn. Cape gardens that slope to the water or finish in soft sand are the thing to flag early. A driveway or a patio behind the dunes is the usual answer for the trailer.

Access for the trailer

The Síbín is towed, so it needs a way in and out for delivery and collection. Narrow sandy lanes and tight turns are worth mentioning when you book. The Aer arrives folded in the back of a van and asks a good deal less of the driveway.

Wind and power

The Aer’s fabric is fire-retardant, waterproof and UV-protective, and it stands as long as the blower runs, so it needs continuous power. Either pub wants one ordinary 20-amp outlet within 100 feet; we bring the extension cord. The Síbín has solid walls, a stove heater and AC, and shrugs off an onshore breeze. If the site has no power, a generator is an add-on we quote with the booking.

Wedding season and the summer house

Cape Cod wedding season is a short, busy summer, and the Saturdays go first. A pub at the rehearsal dinner, the welcome drinks or the reception gives the Irish side of the family somewhere to stand and everyone else a reason to join them. The Síbín seats 16 in a snug under Dáil Éireann bonds, a Daniel O’Connell signature and a 1916 Irish Volunteer newspaper, all genuine; it is the only mobile Irish pub with a snug we know of in New England. $997 midweek, $1,200 at the weekend, for 24 hours.

The other Cape classic is the rented summer house: a big family week with one night that deserves a pub in the garden. The Aer holds 25–30, goes up in minutes on the lawn and comes down before the cleaners arrive, for $500 any day. Add a bar table, seating and a jockey box so the beer is cold all night. A third pub is coming.

Either pub comes as dry hire, where you supply the drink, or fully staffed with our bartenders from Ireland, one of them a Dubliner. For the full wedding picture, see our wedding bar page.

FAQ

Cape Cod questions

Do you charge extra to bring the pub over the bridge?

There is a delivery fee for Cape Cod, quoted up front with the booking, and it depends on where on the Cape you are. Falmouth and the Upper Cape are a shorter run from Plymouth than Chatham or Provincetown, and the quote reflects that. Delivery is only included inside the Plymouth area; everywhere else is quoted before you commit, so there is nothing added on the day. Send us the address and the figure comes back with the availability.

Can The Aer be set up on sand?

It wants level, firm ground: a lawn, a driveway or a patio behind the dunes rather than the beach itself. The Aer is a four-metre square, four metres tall, and it stands up off a single blower that has to run the whole time, so it also needs an outlet within reach. Cape gardens often slope towards the water or finish in soft sand, which is exactly the kind of thing we want to hear about when you book so we can pick the right spot together.

What about the wind by the water?

The Aer is built for the outdoors: fire-retardant, waterproof, UV-protective fabric that will see off a New England forecast, and it stays up as long as the blower is running, so continuous power is the one thing it will not forgive. The Síbín is a towed pub with solid walls, a stove heater and AC, so a stiff onshore breeze is simply weather happening to other people. We talk through the site and the forecast with you before the day.

How do you handle Cape summer traffic?

We plan around it. Every rental is 24 hours, so the pub can come over the bridge on a weekday or first thing in the morning, be set up well before your guests arrive, and leave the next day once the roads have cleared. For a Saturday wedding in July that usually means the pub is already in place on the Friday, which has a certain appeal.

Can you set up at a rented summer house?

Yes. It is one of the classic Cape set-ups: a big family week in a rented house with one night that deserves a pub in the garden. Check with the owner or the rental agent that a trailer or an inflatable can be placed on the property and that we can use an outside outlet, then send us the address and we will do the rest. The pub arrives, we set it up, and it is gone before the cleaners come.

Are you a Cape Cod wedding vendor?

We bring the bar to Cape Cod weddings, whether that is the rehearsal dinner, the welcome drinks or the reception itself. The Síbín makes a snug for the late sitters; The Aer makes a bar tent for the crowd. Dry hire means you supply the drink, or add our bartenders from Ireland from $499 for a 4-hour event. Our wedding page has the detail, and we are happy to talk to your planner or venue directly.
