Corporate Event Ideas, Boston: We Bring the Pub to Your Office Car Park

A real Irish pub, delivered and set up for 24 hours. Staffed with Irish bartenders or dry hire.

The pub comes to the office

Most corporate event ideas in Boston involve getting everyone to a bar. Ours is the other way round: we tow a real Irish pub to your office car park, set it up, and leave it with you for 24 hours. Nobody books a function room, nobody waits for a taxi across town, and the people who normally slip off at six are still there at nine because the pub is forty feet from their desk.

We are based in Plymouth and work across Greater Boston, the South Shore, Cape Cod and New England. There are two pubs to choose from: a towed Victorian pub with a snug that seats 16, and an inflatable pub for 25–30 that goes up in minutes on a lawn, a loading bay or a parking lot — car park, if you will let us call it that.

What companies use the pub for

The company holiday party

Of all the company holiday party ideas going, a pub in the car park is the one that needs no venue deposit, no coach and no coat check. Heater on in The Síbín, mulled whatever behind the bar, and the finance team singing by nine.

Client appreciation event

A client appreciation event in an Irish pub that is yours alone for the evening. Sixteen of your best customers in a snug with a Dubliner pouring — that is a conversation, not a reception. Open with a private whiskey tasting and the conversation starts itself.

Brand activation

A brand activation in Boston needs something people photograph. An inflatable Irish pub appearing on a plaza or outside a store gets photographed. Ask us what is possible for your brand.

Office party

A product launch, a quarter closed, a retirement, a round of promotions. The office party that happens in the car park means the whole floor comes, because leaving early is harder when the pub is outside the door.

Summer outing

The Aer on the lawn beside the office, doors open, jockey box pouring cold, outdoor seating around it. A summer outing nobody has to drive to.

Watching the match

The Síbín has a smart TV and a sound system. Whatever the game, sixteen people watching it in a pub with the office closed for the afternoon is a day off that counts as team-building.

Holiday-party season

November and December fill first. If a company holiday party is the plan, the dates to move on are the Thursdays and Fridays in the first half of December, because that is when everyone else wants the pub too. A Monday-to-Thursday date gets The Síbín at the midweek rate of $997.

Cold is not the problem you would think. The Síbín has its own electric stove heater and the room is small enough to be warm within minutes. The Aer is fire-retardant, waterproof fabric rated to −30°C, and thirty people in a four-metre room make their own heat. We have set it up on a town common in winter — see the photo.

Brand activation, Boston-style

A brand activation works when people stop, look and take the photograph. A pub that was not there this morning does that on its own, whether it is The Aer on a plaza outside a store or The Síbín parked at a trade show. If you would like the pub to carry your name for the day, ask us and we will tell you what is possible.

Staffed, or dry hire

For a work event most companies take the pub fully staffed. Our bartenders are from Ireland — one of them a Dubliner — TIPS-certified and insured, from $499 for a 4-hour event and up to 8 hours, which covers an after-work party with room to spare. The company supplies the drink; we never sell alcohol.

Dry hire is the cheaper route: you supply the drink and someone from the team runs the bar. The pub still comes with two draft lines, keg setup and beer gas, coolers, a sink and the sound system. The staffed vs dry hire page sets the two side by side.

What the car park needs

  • Level, hard ground for The Síbín — concrete, asphalt, gravel or pavers, at least 22 feet by 14 feet; The Aer needs a flat four-metre square.
  • Vehicle access for delivery and collection — The Síbín is towed in, The Aer arrives in a van.
  • One ordinary 20-amp outlet within 100 feet — we bring the extension cord. The Aer’s blower runs continuously; a generator is on the add-ons list if the spot has no outlet.
  • Same-day collection on commercial property with public access (a business car park, a campus): the pub is not left overnight there.
  • About thirteen feet of clear height for The Aer, so it goes beside the building or in a bay with headroom, not under a canopy.
  • 24 hours. The pub can be in place before the working day ends and gone before the first car arrives in the morning.
  • Glassware, a water station, outdoor seating and a photobooth can be added to the booking.

Based in Plymouth; delivery inside the Plymouth area is included and anywhere else in Greater Boston or New England is quoted up front. See The Aer and The Síbín for the full specs.

FAQ

Corporate event questions

What does a corporate pub rental cost?

The Síbín is $997 for 24 hours Monday to Thursday and $1,200 Friday to Sunday, which makes a Thursday office party the better value. The Aer is $500 for 24 hours, any day. Bartenders from Ireland start at $499 for a 4-hour event, plus $60 an hour up to 8 hours. Delivery inside the Plymouth area is included; for Boston and beyond we quote the fee up front. Everything is itemised on the pricing page.

Who supplies the alcohol, and who is liable for it?

We never sell alcohol. The company buys the drink, and either runs the bar itself (dry hire) or has our bartenders pour it. Our bartenders are from Ireland, TIPS-certified and insured, which is usually what HR and facilities want to hear. Rules vary by town — check with your local licensing board; our guide to the questions to ask is a good place to start.

How much room does the pub need in a car park?

The Síbín is a towed trailer and takes roughly one parking space of level ground, plus room for the truck to get in and out. The Aer is four metres square and about thirteen feet tall, so it needs a flat four-by-four-metre spot and a power outlet within reach for its blower, which runs for the whole event. Send us a photo of the spot and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Can the pub go indoors — a warehouse, an atrium, a loading bay?

The Aer can, if there is about thirteen feet of clear height, a flat floor and a power outlet; a warehouse or a covered loading bay often does the job. The Síbín is a trailer and goes wherever a truck can tow it, so a yard or a car park is usual. Either way, send us the details and a photo and we will tell you what fits.

How far ahead should we book a company holiday party?

As early as you can. November and December fill first, and a Thursday or Friday in the first half of December is the hardest date to get. If the dates you want are gone, a January “thank-you” party gets the pub at the midweek rate and a workforce that is glad of a night out. Send us two or three possible dates and we will tell you which are free.

Can you do something other than drinks — team-building, a tasting?

A guided Irish whiskey tasting — 45 minutes in the snug with an Irish bartender and the history as you taste — works well as the structured part of an afternoon before the bar opens properly. A photobooth, “photo finish” cocktails, a champagne wall and outdoor seating are also available with the booking. Tell us what the day is for and we will suggest a running order.
